TTC Christie Station Easier Access Phase III
As part of the Toronto Transit Commission’s Easier Access Program, Christie Station is undergoing upgrades, including the installation of two elevators providing barrier-free access to the platforms. CSI, in partnership with Corebuild Construction, obtained approval from the TTC and it’s consultants for the use of structural shotcrete for the construction of the new elevator shafts in a highly constrained site with limited access. The shafts, measuring as small as 6’ by 18’, extended two levels below grade, requiring precise execution to meet dimensional tolerances. Utilizing the structural shotcrete process eliminated the need for cranage and single-sided formwork, streamlining construction while ensuring a high-quality finish.
