Structural Shotcrete for New Construction

During the 2023 off-season, the Toronto Blue Jays undertook a complete renovation of the Rogers Centre’s lower bowl infield seating, clubhouses, and amenity spaces—all on an tight and fixed schedule. Over 20 working days, CSI placed more than 21,000 sq. ft. (750 m³) of structural shotcrete walls for the newly added below-grade clubhouse and amenity spaces, and to support the precast slabs for the new 100-level seating. By leveraging the structural shotcrete process, foundation walls were completed from footing excavation to wall form stripping in three-day cycles. The project has earned widespread recognition, including the Best Project – Sports/Entertainment award from Engineering News-Record’s 2024 Global Best Projects.
